Work Experience
Thermal Engineer at Maxar in Palo Alto, CA (2021 - Present)
- Developed automation software to enable remote and automated control of vacuum chambers, thermostats, and powersupplys for requirements testing and calibration. Python based software that incorporated threading, GUI, and easily editable configuration files. Interfaced with equipment over Serial, VISA, and Serial MODBUS. Automated equiptment poweroffs in thermal overrun scenarios; remote SMS alerts. Reduced direct labor for testing by removing the need for dedicated night shifts.
- Developed and analyzed spacecraft thermal models in Thermal Desktop, primarily working on IS-40e and PPE. PPE's unique unconstrained orbital requirements allowed me to experiment with statistical models including random forests and simple dense neural nets to spatially predict temperatures on the dual-axial rotating antenna pallets and various pointing positions.
- Oversaw spacecraft thermal testing during thermal vacuum chamber (TVAC) validation for both flight hardware and whole spacecraft.
- Administered internal library web app and oversaw its transition to AWS. The application was written in Perl in the 90s with no documentation and references no longer existing libraries, making it a challenge to migrate.
GIS ML Software Developer Intern at Digital Global/Maxar in Tampa, FL (Summers 2019, 2020)
- Trained ImageNet-based classification and segmentation models on unique archival and satellite imagery using TensorFlow and Python.
- Developed client-facing interactive web portals using Vue, JS, and Flask.
- Managed direct communication with clients over requirements.
- Experimented image GaNs to create LULC color coded maps from satellite imagery.
